Speaking of the origin of steamed dumplings in China, there is an interesting legend. "During the Emperor Gaozu period of the Han Dynasty, General Han Xin used bamboo and wood to make cooking utensils during his march. He used steam to cook food to avoid exposure of cooking smoke to the military camp. Cooking dry food is also easier to preserve. This is the origin of bamboo steamers." In fact, there are authentic archaeological evidences proving that as early as ancient times, people used bamboo to make various utensils, and the cooking method of steaming had been recorded as early as the Zhou Dynasty. The ancient "steamers" were made of pottery and bronze, while the ancient kitchen murals in the tomb of the Eastern Han Dynasty at No. 1 Dahuting, Mixian County, Henan Province, are the earliest evidence of the origin of modern steamers, nearly 2000 years ago.
