Interesting cage making tools
Bamboo knife: The blade is thick at the top and thin at the bottom. Cut bamboo at the thinnest position
Hand drill: It is made of a long and short bamboo branch and a rope. When it is used, it is placed in a cross shape. Pull the long bamboo to make the rope drive the short bamboo to rotate. The nails of the short bamboo can be drilled. The electric drill has been used instead.
Bamboo clip: made of wood, convenient for positioning during fabrication.
Wooden sleeper: It has a history of more than 60 years. This wood has a high density and is used to make workbenches, with iron yards for nails added beside it.
Production process:
Go up the mountain to pick bamboo. It is usually made of red bamboo or silk bamboo. When bamboo is broken, in ancient times, charcoal was used to bake it with light fire, making it straight.
1. Soak the bamboo in water for more than one night to make it soft.
2. Peel and smooth the bamboo. Round a piece of red bamboo and fix the position with bamboo clips.
3. Drill holes and thread copper wires. Tidy up the shape to make it round.
4. Cut four young bamboo strips, enclose them in the outer frame, and then place them in the inner frame.
5. The bottom of the cage is formed by bamboo strips, and then it is solidly formed by rattan lines.
6. Insert the bamboo into the steamer and fix it. The steamer must be dried after it is finished to be durable.
Peeling Steamer Process
The manufacturing process of steamers is very mature. The characteristic of bamboo production is that bamboo is divided into thin bamboo slices with a width of about 4cm, and then bamboo strips are used to splice and reinforce the bamboo slices into steamers. Because bamboo is thick, the outer layer needs to be scraped off with a knife during manufacturing, and then the thickness of 0.5CM-0.6CM is reserved for manufacturing. Because bamboo has strong hardness, there is no need to do fire treatment after removing the outer layer.
The bamboo steamers in Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou and Jiangxi are thin, and the inner wall of 7cm diameter bamboo in the forest is 0.3-0.5cm. Therefore, the bamboo steamers do not need to be peeled. If they are peeled, they can only be used to make baskets or mats. Therefore, when making bamboo steamers, they should be properly baked with fire and then made. However, because the materials are easy to break, such steamers are not often seen in production areas
